Testimonials
"All the actors play the thrust of their functionary needs with great commitment, Monica Sayers makes clear impact."
- Kevin Jackson, KJ Theatre Diary (2014)
"His Mother's Voice had its lighter moments, which made it doubly enjoyable, including the endearing performance of actor, Monica Sayers, during the negotiation and arbitration scene" - Michelle Baltazar, Australian Filipina Magazine (2014)
"I have twice worked with Monica Sayers touring Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes with Monica anchoring the show in the titular role of Sadako. It’s a demanding role about an energetic and athletic young Japanese girl who contracts leukaemia at only 11 years of age following the atomic bombing of her city, Hiroshima. It required Monica to play an enormous emotional range from youthful, exuberant, self-centred immaturity to a weakened but more thoughtful young girl remaining positive and courageous in the face her inevitable early death – much of the inner turmoil being spoken through a series of tricky monologues. Being a touring show for students, Monica was sometimes required to go through this harrowing experience three times a day! Monica’s characteristics of good humour, resilience and positivity make her ideally suited to her chosen career as an actor. Monica is solid in a crisis – cool-headed and organised. She is particularly generous to her fellow actors and considerate of all the crews she has encountered. Not just a dramatic actor, Monica is versatile – as a joker, a fabulous mimic, a fluid mover and a lovely singer. She is not only talented as a performer but smart and funny too which is a great asset in any rehearsal room and on any long tour" - Pip Madgwick, Director/Tour Manager, Canute Productions (2012)
"In the recent tour of the play “Play It Safe” Monica Sayers successfully completed a five week run clocking up 80 performances as co-lead with her on stage husband, David Hynes. Monica’s excellent training, professionalism and talent were evident from first rehearsal, and they needed to be – we blocked the play in four days and within a week gave the first public performance. It involved complex multimedia cues and acting with virtual as well as real characters – no problem for Monica. Through her warmth and engagement she found instant rapport with the audience, and despite it being quite technically challenging, made the character “Rachel” so believable that audience members were quoting her lines after the show. As a demanding director who requires attention to detail in every aspect of character and performance, and one who gives many notes–I could not have been more pleased in casting Monica Sayers. Monica is generous, talented, and will go a long way in the business" - Scott Xavier Higgins, Writer/Director Play It Safe Big Gig (2011)
"I directed Monica Sayers in her graduating production at The National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. She played Beatrice in 'Much Ado About Nothing' with wit, style and passion and I much enjoyed working with such a hard-working and gifted young actor. It is my pleasure to recommend her" - Richard Cottrell, Director - Much Ado About Nothing, NIDA (2008)
"I have known Monica Sayers for some five years, both as a student at NIDA and as a working performer since. She is always positive in outlook and has an excellent work ethic. She is focused and professional in every aspect of her work. I wish her all success in her future career" - Tim Patston, Head of Music, NIDA (2005)
